Description
Helenium autumnale \’Mariachi Sombrero\’ is a hardy perennial admired for its bright yellow flowers with subtle red accents around the central discs, blooming from midsummer into autumn and providing a long-lasting, sunny display. The daisy-like blooms are carried on upright stems above clumps of vibrant green foliage, adding structure, colour, and texture to borders, cottage gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its flowers attract bees and butterflies, supporting garden biodiversity while enhancing ornamental appeal.
Thriving in full sun with moist, fertile, well-drained soil, Helenium autumnale \’Mariachi Sombrero\’ is low-maintenance and easy to grow. Deadheading spent flowers encourages prolonged bloom, while cutting back in spring helps maintain a compact and healthy plant. Hardy and resilient, it is a reliable choice for bright late-summer to autumn colour and pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses or other late-flowering perennials.
