Green Gage

Description

Green Gage is a vigorous and productive deciduous tree, prized for its small to medium-sized, sweet green plums that ripen in mid to late summer. In spring it produces delicate, pale pink blossoms that attract pollinators, followed by juicy, aromatic fruit ideal for fresh eating, cooking, or preserves. Its spreading habit provides shelter for birds and beneficial insects, making it a valuable addition to productive gardens, orchards, or wildlife-friendly spaces.

Well suited to UK conditions, Green Gage thrives in fertile, well-drained soils with full sun exposure. It is hardy, relatively low maintenance, and responds well to light pruning to maintain shape and encourage strong fruiting. This variety combines ornamental, ecological, and culinary value, offering seasonal interest and a reliable harvest of high-quality plums.
