Digitalis purpurea ‘Snow Thimble’ – 2026

Description

Digitalis purpurea ‘Snow Thimble’ is a biennial or short-lived perennial admired for its spikes of tubular, pure white flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. The upright flower stems rise above clumps of dark green, lance-shaped foliage, adding height and vertical interest to borders, cottage gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees and butterflies, supporting garden biodiversity.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil, Digitalis purpurea ‘Snow Thimble’ benefits from staking in exposed positions to support its tall flower spikes. Cutting back spent flowers helps maintain a tidy appearance and can encourage further flowering. Hardy and relatively low-maintenance, this cultivar provides elegant summer colour and architectural structure, making it an excellent choice for sunny or lightly shaded borders.
