Description
Brunnera macrophylla ‘Emerald Mist’ is a charming, low-growing perennial renowned for its striking foliage and delicate spring blooms. The heart-shaped leaves are a vibrant green, adorned with a silvery-white collar around the edges, creating a misty effect that adds visual interest to shaded garden areas. In early to mid-spring, the plant produces clusters of small, sky-blue flowers resembling those of the common forget-me-not, which hover above the foliage on slender stems. This cultivar’s compact, bushy habit makes it ideal for use as ground cover, in borders, or as an accent plant in woodland or shade gardens.
‘Emerald Mist’ thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers full to partial shade, making it an excellent choice for brightening up darker corners of the garden. Its deer-resistant nature and low-maintenance requirements, including occasional removal of spent flowers, make it a gardener’s favourite. The plant’s ability to naturalise over time adds to its appeal, creating a soft, flowing ground cover that complements other shade-loving perennials.
