Description
Astilbe chinensis ‘Purpurlanze’ is a compact perennial valued for its upright plumes of deep pink flowers that bloom in midsummer above finely divided green foliage. Its feathery flower spikes create a textured and striking display, adding colour and interest to shaded borders, woodland gardens, or pondside plantings. The combination of long-lasting blooms and ornamental foliage provides continuous visual appeal, making it ideal for mixed perennial beds or small groupings.
Thriving in humus-rich, consistently moist soil, it prefers partial to full shade and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Low-maintenance and reliable, ‘Purpurlanze’ requires only cutting back spent stems after flowering and occasional mulching to retain soil moisture. Its nectar-rich flowers attract pollinators, enhancing both ornamental and ecological value in shaded garden spaces.
