Description
Astilbe chinensis \’Mighty Plonie\’ is a compact perennial admired for its upright plumes of soft pink flowers that bloom in midsummer above finely divided green foliage. Its feathery flower spikes create a textured and charming display, making it ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or pondside plantings. The combination of long-lasting blooms and ornamental foliage provides continuous visual interest, perfect for mixed perennial beds or small groupings.
Thriving in humus-rich, consistently moist soil, it prefers partial to full shade and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Low-maintenance and reliable, \’Mighty Plonie\’ requires only cutting back spent stems after flowering and occasional mulching to retain soil moisture. Its nectar-rich flowers attract pollinators, enhancing both ornamental and ecological value in shaded garden spaces.
