Description
Astilbe arendsii ‘Elizabeth Bloom’ is a graceful perennial valued for its airy plumes of soft pink flowers that rise above deep green, finely cut foliage in midsummer. Its delicate colouring makes it an excellent choice for brightening shaded borders, where the pastel tones contrast attractively with darker leaves. Reliable and long-blooming, this cultivar is particularly striking when planted in drifts, where its feathery texture adds elegance and movement to the garden.
It thrives in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil and performs best in partial to full shade, though it can tolerate some morning sunlight if well-watered. Easy to care for, it requires little more than seasonal mulching to retain moisture and cutting back spent stems after flowering. A magnet for pollinators, ‘Elizabeth Bloom’ is well suited to woodland gardens, pondside planting, or shaded mixed borders.
