Description
Allium ursinum, commonly known as wild garlic, is a perennial plant valued for its lush green, lance-shaped leaves and clusters of star-shaped white flowers that bloom in late spring. It forms dense carpets in woodland areas and shady borders, bringing both visual appeal and a subtle garlic fragrance to the garden. The flowers attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, while the edible leaves are popular in cooking for their mild garlic flavour, making it both an ornamental and culinary plant. This hardy, low-maintenance species thrives in moist, well-drained soil and partial to full shade, spreading readily to create naturalistic plantings or ground cover under trees.
