Adiantum pedatum

Description

Adiantum pedatum, commonly known as the Five-Fingered Maidenhair Fern or the Northern Maidenhair Fern, is a deciduous, clump-forming outdoor plant. Small, green, finger-like leaves grow on wiry, black stems, creating a clump of leafy, bright green foliage from spring until the end of autumn each year.

These ferns are tolerant of most soil types as long as they are planted in some moist, well-drained soil. They grow best in partial sun or shade, making them a perfect choice for adding some greenery to the shady corners of the garden.

Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.
