Echinops ‘Blue Globe’

Description

Echinops Blue Globe has a naturally architectural presence that brings a bold, sculptural quality to the garden. Perfectly rounded, steel blue flower heads rise above silvery, textured foliage, creating a striking contrast that works beautifully in both modern and traditional planting schemes. This herbaceous perennial is especially valued for the way it draws in bees and butterflies, adding movement and life to the garden throughout summer. Its distinctive form makes it an excellent choice for adding height, structure, and interest to borders, gravel gardens, and mixed perennial displays.

Also known as Globe Thistle, this is a hardy, easy-going plant that thrives in full sun or partial shade and well drained soil, rewarding even low-effort care with reliable performance year after year. Once established, its naturally drought-tolerant and needs very little attention beyond the occasional tidy up. Leaving the seedheads standing into winter adds extra texture and provides a welcome food source for birds. With its long season of interest and minimal maintenance needs, Echinops Blue Globe is a brilliant addition to any garden.
