Description
Geranium phaeum ‘Walkre’ is a graceful perennial that thrives in shaded or woodland gardens, offering both aesthetic appeal and ecological benefits. This cultivar features finely cut, light green foliage that forms a dense, clump-forming habit, providing excellent ground cover. In late spring to early summer, it produces delicate, pale lavender-blue flowers with a subtle grey-blue ring near the base and a pale centre, adding a touch of elegance to shaded areas. These blooms attract early-season pollinators, enhancing the biodiversity of the garden.
‘Walkre’ is particularly valued for its resilience in challenging conditions, including dry shade. It is low-maintenance, requiring minimal care once established. Regular deadheading can encourage prolonged flowering, and while it is relatively drought-tolerant, occasional watering during dry spells will help maintain its vigour. This cultivar is also known for its resistance to pests and diseases, making it a reliable choice for gardeners seeking both beauty and ease of care.
