Description
Astilbe ‘Happy Spirit’ is a striking perennial known for its tall, feathery white plumes that provide a fresh, elegant contrast to its deep green foliage with attractive red stems. Blooming from mid to late summer, it offers a long-lasting display that brightens shaded borders, woodland gardens, and damp areas around ponds or streams. Its upright form and crisp flower colour make it especially effective in both naturalistic plantings and more formal garden designs.
Thriving in moist, humus-rich soils, Astilbe ‘Happy Spirit’ performs best in partial to full shade but can tolerate some sun if the soil remains consistently damp. It is easy to care for, requiring only mulching to retain soil moisture and cutting back spent foliage in late autumn or early spring. Highly attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies, it brings both ornamental charm and wildlife value to the garden.
