Description
Astilbe arendsii \’Rotlicht\’ is a vibrant perennial admired for its upright plumes of deep pink to red flowers that bloom in midsummer above lush, finely divided green foliage. Its feathery flower spikes create a bold, textured display, adding vertical interest and colour to shaded borders, woodland gardens, or pondside plantings. The long-lasting blooms combined with ornamental foliage make it ideal for group plantings or mixed perennial borders, providing continuous visual appeal throughout the season.
Thriving in humus-rich, consistently moist soil, it prefers partial to full shade and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Low-maintenance and reliable, \’Rotlicht\’ requires only cutting back spent stems after flowering and occasional mulching to retain soil moisture. Its nectar-rich blooms attract pollinators, enhancing both ornamental and ecological value in shaded garden spaces.
